30.SEP. 2014. | Odds and Ends

Hi Everyone,
Well I hope your days yesterday were as productive as ours! Mr Dingo really came alive after four face-lifts and Vic's Kangaroo took on some hair and texture. Today was was peaceful and 'quiet' without the children around but the birds and trees were as full and busy as normal. We honestly feel so grateful for such a beautiful placement and Tuesdays seem to be our 'day off'.

In all this today didn't come with no frustrations, as I have already mentioned Mr Dingo gave me a challenge and after a fresh encouragement and advice from Vic I Stuck it out and he is looking much better! :) Hooray!!
Here is a look at the rest of the little 'bits and bobs' we completed :)

EDGAR the EMU | 23. 9. 14

Victoria:
It was a quiet day today.... well as quiet as a kindy gets! And such perfect weather to be painting in. After today's effort I'm proud to introduce Edgar the Emu!!

And grandma poss got a new chain on he bike... she might be able to find the food hush needs to become visible now.
It was such a pleasure sitting outside listening to Australian songs, the sweet smell of Anzac biscuits drifting out of the window!
A big thank you to all the kind words, thank yous and requests for bedroom murals we got today! Its so pleasing to hear that people are enjoying the art as much as we are enjoying painting it.
So what do you think... fancy a mural in your child's bedroom or play room?

Here is just a collection of photos from today :) enjoy!

September 16 | Painting Again

 Hi All!
HOW CUTE! Today we walked into the garden to find the children had been playing and RUNNING around the deck in excitement and just for fun! Horey! one of our major reasons for choosing this area was because of it being the 'dead spot' in the garden where the children wouldn't even go in when there were toys or tents put in there. By opening it up and putting the deck in we cannot get them off of it! They absolutely love it! Their games and character roles begin and end on the deck and so do their play times!

Today was a very productive and busy day!
We are so close to completing our characters! This week we finished a few of our characters and loved listening to the kindy kids playing around us and asking questions and calling out remarks! hehe "Theres a snake!! Look look theres a snake! "

Julia our lecturer visited to chaco up on us today and it was great finally meeting her and having a good chat! It is also a great opportunity for her to have a look at our murals in person!!

We have confirmed our opening date and we are super excited to share this space fully complete with the kindergarten children and their parents.

PAINTING & SHOPPING

Hello hello everyone,
Today took off to a slow start as both Vic and I were uncertain if we should paint due to the weather forecast being rainy. Though unbeknown to the both of us we had the same inkling to just go in anyway and as I was putting on my shoes to leave Vic messaged saying that "she's going in!!"-haha, as they say great minds think alike!

Vic and I walked into the kindy today and found that Allan and his Son had been SUPER busy in-between the footy and made the deck surrounding one of the lilly-pilly trees!! It looks so good!! He is yet to put the final touches on it but it is wonderful so far! The children are walking and playing on it already!

Today Vic got straight into trying to finish her kangaroo before we had to head out. On her knees with children surrounding her she braved the winds and double coated her beautiful friend. She is planning to put some finishing touches down next week!

This morning I jumped back up onto my ladder and fixed up some of my tree branches and painted in my two Pink and Grey Galas (so cute!). I finished one of the little peeking possums and began to finish up my Dingo on the side wall.

It all started coming together this afternoon after we went to visit REMedia and picked out some much needed recycled goods for our interactive play area. We consolidated and wrote up another shopping list along with a discussion on the design of the musical area and ground space. We have shuffled around our time table and completion dates but the end is near. WE ARE SO EXCITED and can't wait to get right back into it over the next couple of weeks.

PAINTING | 2nd September 2014

Hi all! WELL today was very eventful and productive! Feeling so inspired by our beautiful Australia, we have pulled out the paint and brushes and worked our little fingers to the bone, and feeling very happy with our progress too! Have a look at the photos below!!

Today we painted some of our little characters and put down the bases for our big Aussie friends. Looking through the photos below you'll see a Kangaroo, Possum, Emu, red Wattle Bird, Dingo, Snake and some assorted Australian plants.

The paint colours we are using are called: Green Glen (Green), Jonah (Blue), Fanfare (red), Sunshine (Yellow), and Chocolate Fondue (Brown) and White. Our background colour is; Beige Royal Half White, to the eye is it a cream like colour.

For some of our day today we were moving boulders and shifting pavers to make way for our interactive play area. We were measuring for our chalk board and planing some of our layout for the walls and floors. It is all so exciting. We hope to visit ReMedia very soon to recycle some more objects for our interactive area and we plan to keep you updated on this process too!

Today we have received so many complements from parents, children and workers and they are so excited to be on this journey with us. It looks all the more beautiful in person!!

Thanks for reading!
